Dick's Sporting Goods plans to close five of its eight Public Lands stores, and convert those stores into other banners. This includes its experiential House of Sport concept, which was launched in 2021. Larger Public Lands stores, formerly Field and Streams at approximately 50,000 square feet, will close. Smaller Public Lands stores, approximately 25,000 to 30,000 square feet, will remain open as the Company continues to test the smaller format concept. Denny's announced plans to close 150 locations, including 50 by year end and 100 during 2025. The locations were deemed too outdated or unprofitable. These closures represent roughly 10% of all Denny's locations. Once closed, the chain will have about 1,375 units in operation.

7-Eleven is planning to open over 600 large-format, food-focused convenience stores in North America by the end of 2027. The "New Standard" prototype will offer a larger product assortment and expanded food and beverage offerings compared to the typical 7-Eleven. The Company previously rolled out the Evolution store concept in March 2019, featuring Mexican quick service, made-to-order specialty beverages, self-serve specialty coffee, a cold treats bar, mobile checkout, and delivery capabilities. Management indicated that it has leveraged key learnings from this concept to create the New Standard design. 7-Eleven plans to operate 115 New Standard locations by year end, then build 125 in 2025, 175 in 2026, and 200 in 2027. It should be noted that earlier this month the Company announced plans to shutter 444 underperforming locations in North America, citing financial and operational headwinds caused by price-conscious consumers, declining cigarette sales, and weaker-than-expected fuel profits.
The below map shows the future 7-Eleven stores in the pipeline, according to our Retail Openings & Closings tracker.
