On February 3, Essex Technology Group (dba Bargain Hunt) filed a voluntary Chapter 11 petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. The Company reports that it has between $10 million and $50 million in assets and $50 million and $100 million in liabilities.
Bargain Hunt operates 92 stores in 10 Southeastern states (see map below), of which a third are located in Tennessee. It specializes in reselling excess inventory from the nation's largest retailers and manufacturers, including food, clothing, shoes, accessories, electronics, appliances, sporting goods, and home decor. Stores offer merchandise at a 30% to 90% discount.
Sprouts Farmers Market plans to open "more than seven new stores" in Florida this year, with the first opening occurring last week in St. Johns. Spring openings include new stores in Melbourne-Wickham (March 14), Largo (March 21), Boynton Beach (April 4), and Coconut Creek (April 25). Other openings slated for 2025 include Poinciana, Deerfield Beach, and Daytona Beach.
Sprouts operates more than 430 stores across 24 states, with 47 located in Florida.

Beyond entered into an asset purchase agreement with BBBY Acquisition Co. LLC (BBBY) to acquire BBBY’s rights in the Buy Buy Baby brand, as well as assets, data, information and content related to the associated Buy Buy Baby website. The purchase price of $5 million includes certain assets, databases, domains, intellectual property, vendor relationships, and content related to Buy Buy Baby.
Beyond anticipates operating the Buy Buy Baby brand as both an online and brick-and-mortar presence. Its new partner, Kirkland’s, will have the flexibility to integrate Buy Buy Baby into Bed Bath & Beyond stores or to open standalone locations under each legacy banner.
As background, BuyBuy Baby's brand and digital assets were acquired in June 2023 by Dream on Me, which then acquired 11 store leases at bankruptcy auction (see map below). These 11 locations were reopened in November 2023 and operated until the end of 2024, when the Company announced plans to switch to a digital-only presence.
