Hilco JCP, an affiliate of Hilco Real Estate and Manager of Copper Property CTL Pass Through Trust, has placed 121 net-leased J.C. Penney properties on the market. They are located across 35 states and represent over 16 million square feet. The Trust was established to acquire 160 retail properties and six warehouse distribution centers from J.C. Big Lots to Variety Wholesalers 200 loc

Big Lots identified 200 store leases that they designated for assumption and assignment to Variety Wholesalers.

As background, Big Lots closed a deal last month with Gordon Brothers under which 200 to 400 Big Lots stores could continue as a going concern in exchange for a credit bid.

Variety plans to operate these stores under the Big Lots brand.

Southeastern Grocers / Aldi / C&S Wholesale Grocers

Aldi has sold 170 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket, and a similar number of liquor stores, to a consortium of private investors, spearheaded by the current CEO and President of Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG), Anthony Hucker, and C&S Wholesale Grocers. The agreement includes the acquisition of 170 grocery stores operating under the Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket banners and about 170 existing Winn-Dixie liquor stores.

ALDI remains committed to its previously stated conversion plans for 220 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket. Stores will be converted to the ALDI format over a multi-year conversion process that began in March 2024, with completion slated for 2027. Approximately 100 converted locations will be re-opening by the end of 2025. SEG will continue to operate the remaining stores identified for conversion in the normal course of business up to and until each respective store is closed for conversion.
