Tempur Sealy and Mattress Firm filed a motion in Federal Court seeking a preliminary injunction to pause administrative proceedings before the FTC, pending resolution of their request for a permanent injunction. The purpose is to halt the FTC’s legal challenge to Tempur Sealy’s planned $4 billion acquisition of Mattress Firm. The FTC is attempting to block the merger, arguing it could harm competition in the mattress industry.

The FTC proceedings will continue until the issue of an injunction is resolved in Federal Court. In that regard, the FTC rescheduled an administrative evidentiary hearing to February 9, 2025 from November 12, 2024.
